In my friends AOS interview, the officer stamped

What does sec 245 pending mean?

INA Section 245 is Adjustment of Status of Nonimmigrant to that of Person Admitted for Permanent Residence.

There are many parts to Section 245 and how a person falls into the categories of those parts. Without more specific knowledge of the circumstances realted to your friends AOS it could only be speculated as to what categoty they fall into and what is pending.

after i 485 interview on January 4th- 2010, officer asked my friend additional evidence (copy of her sponsor's naturalization certificate) and stamped sec 245 pending , A # and her signature in her passport, she's not got anything yet.

she just got a letter from USCIS that she needs to wait for 9 month cause background checks have not cleared yet.

do you have any idea what it could be?
