hi all! :)

Well, I just wanted to see what you VJers have to say about this??? My fiance and I are getting married in the Ivory Coast on August 14th, 2010. We are moving there for a couple of years and then were going to file DCF at the Embassy. Has anyone else had experience with an international wedding? Did you're family attend? My family wont be able to make it, but we are going to have another wedding (marriage blessing) when we arrive together in the U.S. in a couple of years.

Any ideas on how to include my own family in the wedding even though they wont physically be there?

Our Timeline:

Fall 2008- Met as friends while studying abroad

Nov. 2008- Started dating

Feb. 2009- Moved in together in Senegal

Apr. 2009- Got engaged

Aug-Dec. 2009- Long distance relationship from CA to Senegal

Dec-Jan. 2010- Christmas and New Years together in Senegal

Feb-May. 2010- Long distance (last time ever, no matter what!)

May 15th, 2010- Graduated!

May 20th, 2010- Moved to Senegal to live together

July- Moved to the Ivory Coast

August 20t, 2010- Married (YAYYY!!)

October- Found out we are having our first child in April!

December 22nd- Moved back to California due to political tension in the Ivory Coast

April 22nd- Our son was born

USCIS

June 3rd- Mail I-130

June 7th- NOA1 email/text

June 9th- NOA1 letter

October 3rd, 2011- NOA2

NVC

October 31st- NVC Case Number Recieved

Oct 31st- DS-3032 Emailed

Nov 21st- AOS Paid

Dec 22nd- IV Fee Paid

Jan 6th- AOS Packet Received

Jan 10th- IV Packet Sent and "False RFE" received

Jan 11th- NVC operator said AOS Packet was approved

Jan 24th- CASE COMPLETE!

03-09-2010 : AOS and Documents Sent

03-09-2010 : Receive IV Bill

03-19-2010 : DS-230 and Documents Sent

03-24-2010 : False RFE for DS-230; Confirmed AOS Reviewed and No Missing Information Found

04-02-2010 : Sign-In Failed. Thank you, Lord!

04-05-2010 : Case Completed at NVC

04-15-2010 : Majorly Unhappy with NVC

04-30-2010 : Interview Date Assigned

Be aware of time differences if you plan to do the webcam thing. We were legally married at 5am where my family lived.

My family could not come and I did not bother trying to include my family in the wedding. I just sent pictures afterward with explanations. There was no butthurt about it that I ever got word of.

I thought also about the second wedding thing, but it seemed pretty unnecessary once I got back here. YMMV.
