War? I responded to your comment regarding the definition of terrorism. What I quoted above is the definition of "terrorism" in the federal penal code. The threats against members of Congress qualify for acts of terrorism under that definition - which is why the FBI is pursuing the cases. What we have here are classic acts of terrorism. But since the perps ain't Muslims, the right is looking the other way.

The British Monarchy was not a Democracy, you smug little apologist. Revolting against a nondemocratic government in the name of liberty is nothing compared to using thuggery and violent intimidation for political ends in a democracy. In fact, it undermines democracy.

Britain had Parliament at the time but the voting franchise was limited as was ours for decades.

Remember that the American rebels originally wanted their rights as Englishmen by getting representation in parliament.

We aren't a direct democracy either, btw.

The conventional use and meaning of the term is not equal to its literal translation. In politics, the term is used all the time to refer to our system of government as well as what we wish to spread and uphold throughout the world.
