So the I-130 I had submitted for my wife who is in Pakistan got approved in 6 weeks, which I think is freakishly quick, what do you think?

Now according to what I have read here it is going to go to the NVC where it will be assigned a case number and forms will be sent to my wife to fill out such as D230 and the I864.

I have a couple of quick questions for the people who have experience with the CR1 process for Pakistanis.

1- Is the 6 weeks to approve the I-130 a good sign and a sign of things to come you think?

2- The forms that the NVC will send my wife in Pakistan do they need to be returned to the NVC or taken to the embassy on the interview date?

3- The long birth certificate and the police certificate required is there anything I need to aware of when I request these items from the local Pakistani authorities?

4- I am hoping to bring my wife back with me by the end of July, is that a realistic expectation?

Any other advice that anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

So I called the NVC automated line inputted my receipt number and the system informed me that NVC entered my case into their system and assigned a case number, all this was done on the 26th of March a week after my I-130 was approved.

Is there a way to check the case status on line or is the automated line the only way to get case updates?

thanks

Pay attention, non-EP NVC noobs. Here's Christeen's time tested formula to get you through NVC in one piece alive:

Petitioner: Get NVC # + give operator your email IDs + receive AOS fee bill + pay 70$ online + wait to show paid + print cover sheet + send I-864 AOS with all documents and case # written on each page.

Beneficiary: Get NVC# + receive DS3032 + send DS3032+ DS3032 accepted + IV fee bill available to be paid + pay & wait to show paid + print IV cover sheet + mail DS230 package with all original/certified documents

= wait for case complete + wait for interview to be scheduled.

Suggestions:

1) Have the beneficiary mail SIGNED extra DS230s to you so that you have them handy in case something goes wrong. Or you get hit by a dreaded RFE.

2) If you just received your NOA2, THIS is the time to get your tax stuff and police certificates sorted out. Don't waste time on this.

3) Double check the PCC requirements in the regional forums as they are country specific.

4) Check the pinned STUPID RFEs thread in IR-1/CR-1 forum.

Currently the # of business days NVC is taking:

3-4 days for NVC to receive your case and assign a case #.

3-4 days to receive emailed links after case # has been assigned and email addresses been given to NVC operator.

1-2 days for the AOS bill to show as PAID.

1-3 days for DS3032 to be accepted.

1-2 days for IV bill to be PAID.

8-11 days for case complete after all your documents have been sent in.

No way to check it online--only the AVR. You can talk to an operator if there is a problem.

Join the NVC March 2010 thread ya?

Read the guides.

Read the NVC LingChe shortcuts.

Read the forms/instructions.

You will need the DS230, DS3032 and the I864. Print them out and fill them out.

If you have questions, post them in the NVC progress threads.
