hello,

i hope somebody can help me on this dilemma. my fiancee visa application has already been approved march 4, 2010. according to the notice it has been forwarded to the listed consulate, though it does not state on the notice where the consulate is. I have sent an email to the Barbados consulate inquiring whether they have received my application and when should my fiancee expect packet 3, they told me that they are not in the position to inform me of that and that i should contact NVC. I contacted NVC a number of times and they kept on telling me that they have not received any application and may take 1-4 weeks. however, i have noticed that for k1 visas timeline here, they are usually just passing NVC for a few days and then forwarded to the consulate. and here is the thing, when i called again this morning in NVC, they told me that since based on the approval notice it has not stated there that it will be forwarded to NVC, they will not receive that specific application. I am really confused and do not know where and how to check the progress of my application. :crying: Any assistance on this matter will be very very great. Thanks guys!

Your profile info has the Philippines as your fiance/e's country but you're expecting the case to go to Barbados? I think I'm missing something here.

But the petition approval never states which consulate it's going to - that's standard. It is the NVC that takes the approval and directs your case to the correct consulate.

At any rate, once the NVC receives your case, you can get a case number from them - the first 3 letters of that case number indicate where the petition has been sent for interview. It takes a little time for petition approvals to get from the service centers to the NVC so if they don't have it yet - you'll just have to wait and call back when they have received it to get your case number.

The waiting is very difficult. It took approximately 3 weeks for our paperwork to make it to the consulate. My fiance received her packet about a week after that. You will not be informed, at least I wasn't, whether or not your paperwork reaches the consulate. I just took it on good faith, whew! I am glad that's over and behind us! I never checked to see the status of our paperwork was, just waited patiently, going on the saying, 'no news is good news.' Hang in there! We're all pulling for you.

Either Kiev is different now or something else had changed. Paperwork gets there fast, it's just a question of them entering it into the system, which they do every Friday. Then it's just constant calls to a call center to see if they received it. I don't think they even bother with sending out packets now. If they do, they don't always arrive, so we got ours from the consulate website.

For the OP, patience and perseverance!

Thank you all for your response. It makes me feel a lot better waiting. What I just don't understand is why yours, paulsveta took three weeks to reach the consulate however, mine is exactly three weeks from now after the NOA2 approval was approved and it hasn't been received by NVC yet.

I also looked at your timeline Мартышк+Мартышка, and it looks like it has only been days for your NVC processing. And the hardest part is I don't know where it is currently. Unlike in USCIS where i know that it is currently being processed in their department, I don't know where my case is currently at now.

But thank you very much for all your help and guidance.

It is greatly appreciated!

If you wait a little bit longer, you can involve your congressman, have them put in an inquiry. See where things are at. Maybe USCIS just failed to send it to NVC... who knows.

I wish you best of luck, this is heartbreaking that they make people wait again and again and again :(

Thanks again Мартышк+Мартышка, if the timeline is like consistent in NVC like it will take an approximate 1month to process things, I will not be this anxious. it is just that some of them are just taking days to transfer from USCIS to NVC to the consulate, and mine has been three weeks now with no NVC receipt. i will give them until a month, then if i don't receive anything, i think i need to do something about it. thanks again!

Hello Samson/Evelyn

Patience is a virtue and the journey will give you plenty of time to learn it!! First thing...your PETITION is being processed VERY QUICKLY so you have no room to complain about anything! 51 days from NOA-1 to NOA-2 is REALLY FAST. Your NOA-2 told you specifically that your file was being sent to the NVC on "whatever" date, right? Your only option is to WAIT until it arrives and be patient! My NOA-2 states, "You will receive notification by mail when the NVC has sent your petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate." It continues..."If it has been four weeks since you received this approval notice...please call the NVC at (603)334-0700."

You got your NOA-2 on March 4th...you are not at the 4 week mark! You can call the NVC every day if you want to drive yourself crazy. But, I suggest that you relax a bit and check every few days. Typically, the time your file spends at the NVC is very short. So, by the time you get the notification from the NVC, your paperwork may already be in the country of your fiance'.

Best Wishes,

Franc

Mine says "then send the petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where your fiance(e) will be interviewed for his or her visa." My fiancee is in Costa Rica...therefore the paperwork will be sent to San Jose, Costa Rica. Your SO is in the Philippines...so yours should be sent to the Philippines...Manila, maybe??? If you read these I-797 forms, they are very specific with what is happening on your petition. Best Wishes, Franc

Thank you Franc for the information. That is what makes me worried because I am really unsure as to the processing or as to where the visa application has gone to. According to the NOA2, it has been forwarded to the corresponding consulate, but then I emailed the consulate and it says there that I should contact NVC because they are not in the position to verify whether the application in their or not. And according to NVC, if the NOA2 does not state that it is forwarded to NVC then it goes straight to the embassy. That is where the confusion comes in. I mean if I know that my application is in NVC and is currently being processed, I would not have been worried like this, but the thing is i do not know where it is currently at. Anyhow, thank you again for taking time responding to my dilemma and hopefully things are being processed. Thank you again.

Have you called NVC lately? They usually go through NVC anyway

Yup Martyshk, Already did that twice last week and tuesday, the first one told me that they have not received it, the second one told me that since it did not state on my NOA2 that it will be forwarded to NVC, then it has been forwarded directly to the consulate.

There seems to be no rhyme nor reason why some cases get to and out of the NVC faster than others. But to try and figure out the 'logic' behind these sorts of things in this process is an exercise in futility.

Well, my NOA2 also said it was forwarded to a consulate, but it still went to NVC
