Is anyone aware of any driver's education courses licensed by the California DMV which are available in Spanish? I have been searching for months and come up with no classroom, Internet, or home study courses whatsoever. The only thing I have been able to find is the official driver's handbook, which is woefully inadequate as a sole source of education for someone who has never driven a car and knows nothing of automotive or traffic fundamentals.

I guess it would depend if your in Northern California or Southern California. Theres a place in Thousand Oaks that offers Drivers Ed in Spanish http://www.safetyfirstds.com/ . As for licensed by the State, I am not sure what you plan to accomplish. No matter what the written and driving test are conducted at the DMV as far as I know. I do know that the written test is available in Spanish.

They have Spanish speaking driver's training instructors, but their driver's education classes (both classroom and online) are in English only.

Are you in No Cal or So Cal?

Driver's training and driver's education are very different things. Driver's training is 6+ hours of behind the wheel practice handling a vehicle on public roads with an instructor. Driver's education is a state approved curriculum requiring 30+ hours of classroom or self study time. Finding driver's training in Spanish is not an issue. Finding driver's education is what is proving to be a problem. It doesn't matter where the classes are, we will travel as needed.
