Hi to all. We are planning to invite my mom to stay here with us for 2months. I am pregnant right now and my due date will be on September. We want to get her before my due date. We want to start the process by next month. What are the things we need to do? We need guide. Thanks.

hi there!

she'll be applying for a tourist visa so have her prepare the requirements, most specially docs that will prove strong ties she has in the philippines. what nvc wants to see is that she very strong reasons to go back, which means she won't overstay her visa if approved.

if she's w/in her senior years, her chances of getting approved are very good too, just an observation

Thanks Zen Den for the reply. I checked the link u posted and it says there that for a tourist visa show money is necessary. It so nice to know about this. We thought that since my husband will be sending mom a sponsorship letter she won't be needing any show money at all. We have no problem giving her show money anyways. By the way my mom is 56 y/o. I am wondering what "ties" she can use coz she has no business and not employed for a long time now. My brother is the one supporting her. And last 2008 my brother bought her a brand new house but I think the house is under my brother's name, even though technically it is mom's house. Arrgghhh don't know what document she can show. She has definitely no interest of staying here in the US longer than 3months. She just eager to visit us here becoz of her new grandchild. She's doing the same when she visiting my brother and the family in Singapore she only stayed for 2months. Sigh! Hopefully we wont have any problem when we start the process. I truly miss my mom.

We are exactly on the same boat, I am also due Sept 10,2010 and would like to get my mom here, she's in the Philippines, same age as your mom or probably 55 yrs. I have an Indian friend that was able to get her parents without any problem, she said they don't have any property to show they owned in India too, they just showed proof that they can support here while here, that gives me such hope. But, I hope it will be easier for us too. I plan on getting her at least the end of august and stay here like max of 3 months.. I was reading your goal we are totally at the same boat. Same due date, same desire and my mom either does not have any properly anymore named under her name, the house we owned in the phils are now named after my sister's name. Pls keep me posted if you find more other useful information as I process my mom's papers, I will ask her to start having her passport ready and some other stuff. God bless!
