Hello all, our petition was filed back in May 09 but neither of us has received anything in the mail since our final Notice of approval mailed in September 09. I’ve made numerous attempts in communicating with departments, most recently contacting the London consulate on a premium rate helpline and the National Visa centre but still no information could be found on our case. Instead we were told to wait as our file may still be processing. Over the weekend I realized that our Notice of Approval expired on January 21st 2010, so I decided to email both the NVC & London consulate a copy of the NO2 but I am extremely worried as so much time has already passed.

Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

London routinely extends the date on NOA2s - generally, they have expired by the time most people get an interview anyway. All you need to do is both submit another 'intent to marry' letter at the time of the interview.

I'd call DOS and figure out what is going on. You will have a new case number now (starting with LDN). If you are stalled at NVC, fine - but it'd be nice to know that!

Call (202) 663-1225. Have your USCIS case number handy.

Thanks TracyTN.

Where do I find my case number? Is it the same as the receipt number?

I was on vacation in the States when my notice expired and we did a new one - both of us signed it and it was witnessed by a notary.

However, they didn't ever request a new one, even though I took two copies with me and told them that I had it.

Get a new one just in case, but that's what happened to me.

You can bet that if you don't get one, they'll ask for it.

Hi MattHeartCass, Thanks for your response.

Did the NVC provide you with a new notice of approval?

Problem is, the receipt number from our NO2 isn’t showing up anything with the NVC and when I contacted the USCIS the only record they have is our NO1 from May 2009. Right now we are anxiously waiting to hear back from the emails we sent out over the weekend. :(

This is a long shot..since you probably already know this... but when you are calling NVC are you speaking to a real person? K1's don't get entered into the automated system so every time you call the system will tell you there is no information.

I think in a previous post you asked about the receipt number. The case number will be a new number, not the same as the receipt number on the NOA1. Most likely starts with the first three letters of your Consulate and has the year after it.. then some other numbers. For example: Our new case number started with ANK2009.. It did not start with EAC or WAC like the NOA1 receipt ( I think another poster told you it would start with this).

I suggest calling DOS. Something is obviously wrong.

Thanks for your advice.

I spoke to the Department of State (202- 663-1225) yesterday. Unfortunately, the lady was very unhelpful.

Yes, whenever I call the NVC I talk to a real person and not to the automated system. I now realize that I’m stuck without the new case number. However, the operator from the NVC advised me to contact the NCSC (1 -800-375-5283) they were efficient and filed a referral request on the case details? Hopefully I should hear back from them within 30 days.
