Hi there,

I am married to a US citizen living in Canada with my immigration interview scheduled in April. The big thing which has changed since my original application is that we are expecting our first child. Should I be contacting someone prior to the interview? Does this change everything? Im about 5 months pregnant.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

The panel physician doing your medical exam will want a note from your doctor documenting your pregnancy. Since you will not be delivering prior to the interview you do not yet technically have any children, so the information you filled in on all of your forms so far is still valid. You'll want to notify the IO at your interview of the pregnancy (as if they'll be able to miss it by that point! :)) and the IO may have some questions about just how your USC spouse intends to include you on his insurance and whether that will fully cover the delivery and, if not, how you two intend to pay for it. But it shouldn't be a problem. You can contact the consulate prior to the interview, but I suspect they'll just tell you the same things.
