Medical exam in the U.S. even though she had one overseas?

I called two doctors early this morning to make an appointment with a Civil Surgeon to have our I-693 filled out/signed, and apparently I don't understand the process (or THEY don't understand the process..or they DO, just want to charge me an arm and a leg to make money).

My wife just had her medical checkup and received vaccinations, etc in late December. Now from what I'm reading in the I-693 instructions and online is this is good for a year (provided I have documentation like the DS-3025), and she doesn't need to take yet another medical exam.

The two offices I called up claim the medical checkup overseas doesn't count, and that she needs to have another medical exam again (likely no shots though since I have paperwork). Regardless, the cost at one place is $250 and at the other $200, even though she now has insurance with me over here..the cost is JUST the office charge, and vaccinations/blood work would be billed to my insurance.

This is definitely a real money maker for Civil Surgeons, and I'll pay it if it's required - I just don't want to get ripped off. Does anyone know anything about this stage?

Not required if the foreign medical was less than 1 year ago... they most likely are not familiar with AOS from K-1
