Hey guys is it possible for my fiancee to get her medical done without having to wait for Packet 3 to arrive? Does the medical have an expiry date? I've been to the embassy info located on VJ and it lists a few doctors where they can get their medical done...

I'm not sure about SA but in Germany you can get it up to 6 months prior to your interview date!

Still, did you get your NOA II yet or not? Because if you haven't, this can get pretty nasty if approval does take longer than expected.. be careful and good luck!

edit_It doesn't say much on the embassy website but here are some links in case you haven't read through these instructions yet

Oh just had a look at your timeline - Now I don't mean to be a party pooper but for a January filer, you're thinking way ahead... I know it's hard but do be patient.. give it just a few more moths just to be safe!

I also don't know the details about South Africa but in Colombia you need to have your appointment set at the embassy to be able get your lab and medical taken care of.

thanks for the help.. It's been about 45 days since our NOA1 and I wanted her to get her medical completed near the end of this month because we are expecting our NOA2 in April.

Take a look at some of the other members around here. Just because you're expecting it, doesn't mean that it will come. You need to at least wait until you've gotten your packet 3. If things are anything like whats at the Montreal Consulate, you have to have either your packet 3 or your interview letter before they will let you make an appointment.

Learn patience. You don't want to go and throw money away. You'll need it later.
