Then Rush turned to the story of Sen. Jim Bunning putting 2,000 federal workers on furlough. Rush, showing how little he understands the struggle of living paycheck to paycheck, mocked the concern for those employees, saying that they're probably going to be paid and criticizing the media for thinking the story was about the 2,000 workers, because it's not about them:

LIMBAUGH: Now, who knew? [laughs] Who knew? But if you look at this story, folks, this is the worst thing that could have ever happened. Two thousand federal workers are going to be furloughed, and there might be a delay in some unemployment benefits being paid. Oh my God, this is the worst thing that's ever -- who knew, folks, that one lone senator from the minority party could wreak so much damage to our economy?

He's just dialing into the current mood of 'the American people'. Unemployed people deserve their fate for not planning ahead, for not figuring out some contingency plan, for being too dependent on 'government' to solve their problems for them.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

There are people getting laid off all over the place....these federal workers are no more important than everyone else who is unemployed.

I think context might have a lot to do with this...I didn't see/hear it firsthand, but I highly doubt anyone would sincerely laugh at the unemployed. Critical thinking time, peeps!

Most of Limbaugh's things get taken out of context. ESPECIALLY by "Media Matters" lol...

See: "Phony Soliders" and the Harry Reid/Democrat Letter that followed (and became an ebay sensation lol).

The problem is too complex for the angry mob that is the Left.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Context? I think you should add a little here. Two thousand people are being furloughed simply because senator bunning is holding up funding. They aren't being laid off, they are being furloughed because, and not because their employment is wasteful, or superfluous. He's doing it to try to score some political points.

That's not really what this is about...this thread is about Limbaugh's reaction; which I still assert, might have been taken out of context.

Here's some more context. Apparently he was angry because the vote was causing him to miss a BASKETBALL GAME!

No, I think the quote from Limbaugh was quite clear. I don't see how it could be misconstrued. Limbaugh is laughing at the effort put into getting this funding while denegrating the people who are being put out of a job for an unspecified period of time for no reason other than a senator trying to score political points. It's a cheap shot that government employees are a waste. I get it. ha.ha.

I wouldn't be surprised really, I've seen and heard enough of these jerkaholic commentators to know that most of what they say is inflammatory, unintelligent garbage.

Rush's only claim to greatness is to be the chief agitator of the Neanderthal morons who listen to his garbage and take it seriously.

I know he's just trying to provoke, and that is why I never lend much credence to what he says, no matter what the context of it. However, as you can see from quite a few poster's on these forums, some of his audience take whatever he says as the word of god and parrot whatever he says verbatum.
