Question regarding Household Size:

My mother (petitioner) who is a homemaker and has never worked is sponsoring me under F2B (unmarried son/daughter over 21).

My father is a household member as her spouse and my aunt (fathers sister) is another household member

Both have filled an 864A each as they have independent incomes.

Going to the question:

Household Size - DO NOT COUNT ANYONE TWICE

Part 5. Sponsor's household size.

Persons you are sponsoring in this affidavit:

a. Enter the number you entered on line 10. 1 (Myself)

Persons NOT sponsored in this affidavit:

b. Yourself. 1 (Mom)

c. If you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse 1 (Dad)

d. If you have dependent children, enter the number here 0

e. If you have any other dependents, enter the number here 0

f. If you have sponsored any other persons on an I-864 or

I-864 EZ who are now lawful permanent residents, enter here ?

g. OPTIONAL: If you have siblings, parents, or adult children with

the same principal residence who are combining their income

with yours by submitting Form I-864A, enter the number here. ?

The question is what category does my aunt fall under? she isnt my moms sibling, or parent or adult child however she lives in the same household and has filled an 864A, nor is she my moms dependant as my mom doesnt earn. So she doesnt fall under E or F or G.

Any advice would be appreciated. Do I fill out 2 forms..one with household size as 3 and another with 4 and ask the consular officer?

Thank You

I think Aunt would go in "g". They give examples of who might go there, but it's not the end-all list in my opinion. Aunt lives in the house, she's related to the household, and her income is going to be used. So she needs to be listed in that last category which is basically anybody else not already listed.

From the instructions page 7:

21g - This question gives you the option of including certain other non-dependent relatives who are living in your residence as part of your household size. Such relatives may include your mother, father, sister, brother or adult children, if they are living in your residence. However, the only reason to include these family members in your household size is if you need to include their income when you calculate your household income for purposes of meeting the income requirement for this form. To be considered, any relative indicated in this category must sign and submit Form I-864A.
