We arrived at the embassy for the interview today with all of the papers ready. They did not allow me to go in with my wife who had no clue about all the documents I had filed for her. They told us that the visa is declined because we do not have all of the required documents. It has checked "copy of joint sponsor and spouses ID and joint sponsors spouse needs to complete an I-864A". We don't know whether this is a good or bad sign. They told her that we can come by on Monday or Wednesday with the papers to submit.

Aside from this, my wife said that everything went okay and the interview was smooth. So I don't know what to think. Has anyone ever had this experience? Do you think she will get her visa?

What happens if she is declined again??? Both me and my son have US passports so my wife definitely needs her visa.

Did you supply the requisite I-864, meeting the income requirements with supporting income documentation in the package? Specifically, did you provide evidence of your income, exceeding the poverty level?

If your income is below the minimum income threshold, you need a sponsor with I- 864-A documentation in double quick time....

All the best,

William.

If your income is below the minimum income threshold*, you need a sponsor with I- 864-A documentation in double quick time....

All the best,

*I second that - you have to get a relative who can produce scanned salary statements,

bank statements, letter of employment, etc. to support the sponsor's paperwork,

namely I-864A and I-864.

The Sponsor needs to fill out the I-864 (with all the accompanying tax forms & financial

statements) and you have to fill out the I-864A jointly.

Sounds like they gave you 221g. This happened to me. They will allow you in the embassy when you go back on Monday or Wednesday afternoon. Read my experience here:

Sounds like your joint sponsor is married so the spouse will need to provide I-864A.

Done for 3 years or 10 years. Haven't decided yet.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

Exactamente!!!

They gave us a 221g.... basically, they told my wife that they could not give her a visa today. As an English teacher in Thailand for four years, my income is insufficient to meet the income requirements. My father already agreed to be a joint sponsor and also completed a form I-864 and submitted all of his tax info. The unforeseeable problem was that he is married to my step mother and they file their taxes jointly. So on the 221g it says to submit "I-864A from the joint sponsors wife, plus USA ids of the joint sponsor and his spouse." They only accept these documents Mon and Wed between 1 and 4.

So this isn't actually a straight-up denial of her visa. They just need more papers, right? So does anyone, specifically daboyz, think that next week when we submit the papers they will approve her visa? OR will they have to schedule another appointment??? I cannot imagine getting denied. I have invested a lot of time, money and effort into this visa and mentally we are already set on leaving.

No they wont schedule anything. I doubt they will deny you. They just want more papers. Give them what they want and she'll get it. You can go in Wednesday afternoon between 1 and 3 pm. They seem to be a pain in the a$$ for people that are doing CR-1/IR-1 but they hand out K-1s like hotcakes. You can go with her to turn in the documents. They wont deny you entry. You'll get it. Is the old fat bald guy? I thought he got transferred out.
