I'm moving to my SO's country while we wait for his visa, I'm leaving on Friday, and I am just able to pick up my 1099 tomorrow.. So I'm going to have to file while I'm overseas. I am an independent contractor and pay quarterly and have mileage to deduct as business expenses... I'm also filing for the child tax credit and have one dependant. My state taxes are no problem because I paid all 4 quarters at one time last year, even though I only worked for 2 quarters. I paid the 2 quarters for the federal taxes, but I usually get an accountant to do my taxes, so I have no clue what to do on my own.. I know, I know, it's sad.. Does anyone know if the US Consulates and Embassies have someone who prepares taxes for US citizens abroad, or should I telecommute with an accountant in the states and have them E-File my federal forms and mail me my state forms to sign and mail back to the comptroller? I hope someone has been through this and has some ideas for me. Thank you ^_^
