Hi Everyone,

Sort of unrelated....but...sort of related to citizenship...

Here is yet another reason to become an American Citizen....

You can choose to be a member of the your former country's olympic team, or the American olympic team.....

If you are an olympic athelete....

In this instance, being associated with more than one country can be an advantage!

Thinks of it as "another job opportunity"....lol....

Sorry...I couldn't help but notice that...while watching the winter olympic games...

Some of the atheletes have multiple citizenships.....

They "pick and choose" which team they want to be a part of....I suppose...

Some choose their former country, some choose their current country....

Despite oaths, allegiances, or whatever else.....

Which country would you choose to be an olympic team member of, if you could choose???...Hmmm.....

Ant (Cheering for the Canadian and American teams...for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games....I can't decide..lol..)

Can't argue with those clocked events, but certainly find those judged events, let's just say, a tad subjective. Could see if not judged by one country, does give a second chance. Even in a timed event if a contender is 0.0000000001 second slower.

That in itself is great but why would you even consider representing another country other than US, once you are an American citizen? When you take the oath, you make a promise to absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which you have heretofore been a subject or citizen. Yeah it's all great one has a choice to fly wherever flag they want, but I believe it is disrespectful to this country to fly something else other than the US flag, even if you are an Olympian.
