hey guys!

I know that I am propably in the wrong forum, but I have a short question.

I will move to the U.S. with a K1 visa to marry my fiancee in June.

I will finish my Master in May and she is still going to school and is insured through her parents at the moment.

I was wondering if someone can give me an advice what to do for the beginning for insurance.

Should I get an insurance in Germany?

Is it even valid if I get married? Can I be insured in Germany and she through her parents until I find a job?

Any advice would help.

Thanks a lot

Sorry again for posting in the wrong forum, couldn`t find the right one for my question.

The German public insurance (if you are on it) would definitaly not cover you outside the EU (not even for visiting). If you have (or wish to get) private coverage (say through ADAC or what ever), you may/can be covered outside the EU (a friend of ours is doing just that).

Maybe, it would be worth while to research your best (most affordable) options for coverage from some German/EU and US insurers.

It should be - you may need to notify them of the marriage.

It is possible with many private insurers.

Hi Otto!

thanks for the answer.

Yes I heard about ADAC insurance before.

I am not sure if I can be insured through them, cause I am moving permanently to the Staates.

I will just call them and figure it out.

thanks for the information
