It depends what state you are going to get your license. Like for me I googled California Board of Accountancy and then their website has a list of private offices that can evaluate my transcript & diploma. Those list are the only ones that the board is going to accept my evaluated credentials. And then I have to choose through those lists what evaluation office has the cheapest and requires notarized copies. I only have one set of original copies. Go to the websites on each of those list and you will get the infos on how long will it take, how much, what documents should be submitted, etc.

Yep it depends upon the state, your purpose of having the credential evaluation and your degree, I am from Minnesota and the reason of my credential evaluations is for licensing purpose and continous education( now that I am pregnant, I decided not to take the licensure) . In Minnesota Department of Education, we must appply for evaluations accedited by NACES. My papers were evaluated at e-ValReports for $125 both bachelor and masteral(course-by-course), 2 copies... this is the cheapest.

If just for employment purpose, this is the cheapest... around $70 you just need the standard or general report. If licensing and continous education you need course-by-couse or comprehensive evaluations (with units accredited, subject, GPA, etc.)

Some also evaluated the working experience.

The payment for credential evaluation is kinda expensive, depending of the evaluation that you need. Secondly, the requirements for evaluation is depending to the evaluation company that you will apply. Some evaluators just accepted the TOR by email, some accepted a copy with notorization and some required the original documents.

In my case, the evaluator asked the original copy and I even submitted my marriage certificate to change my maiden name to my married name.

As I said, there are different purposes of having the credential evaluations, there are different requirements, some evaluators are not accredited.

Hope it helps.

What field of work were you in back home? My wife got her degree evaluated and is now a member of the American Dental Association as a foreign dentist, but the only state that currently will give licenses to foreign dentists is Minnesota, and it's on a case-by-case basis. The only way she could practice in our state (California), is to go through a 2 year program at an accredited university and the cost is astronomical ($120,000).

Im a licensed socialworker-psychologist and worked at Texas Instruments Philippines as a Process Control and Product Specialist . Behavioral science and process engineering in one.Oh,I love my work way back home! ^_^

Initially, $120,000 fee for a two-year school program is a great deal of money :) . But were talking bout earning a handsome pay practicing ones profession and work experience. I do hope your wife pursue her foreign dentistry license and practice it. Best of Luck!
