Hi,

Anyone from Ireland do the Fiance visa. Just want to know what processing times you had to wait.. An any other info really would be a great help.

Thanks,

My fiance is an Irish citizen but living in England at the moment. We filed back in Sept and at this point have received packet 3 and returned it so the ball is in the London Embassy court right now! Seems to not be taking too long. We had planned on the process taking between 8-9 months so we are ahead of that timeline right now.

If the OP's fiance lives in the Republic the interview will be in Dublin - so their experience would be different than a beneficiary processing through London.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

This reminds me of the old pick-up line "do you have any irish in you" with the response being "want some"?

An "Irish" experience would be at the Dublin consulate, which handles things differently than the "British" consulate in London.

Thanks Tracy...maybe this will satisfy the "Irish" experience to his standards.

thanks all for the info... i want to get there now but I will have to be patient. Is it also true that if I wanted to marry in Ireland my wife would have to reside there for 6months before I can apply for Spousal Visa???
.

We did some research into getting married in Ireland and there are some residency requirements but I dont believe it's six months. If you just google getting married in Ireland requirement it will bring up a couple different sources for info. If you are married she's entitled to be there with you. There's probably something you need to file with the closest Garde. Like I said I'm not 100% sure but it wouldnt take much research to find out!

Well the wedding part would be ok in terms of residency but a US visa immigration lawyer in Ireland told me that if we married in Ireland that my wife would have to reside there for 6 months before I can appy for spouse visa

I can answer the spousal visa bit. To get married in Ireland you need to be resident in the district you want to be married in for 6 weeks, and they are not very strict on requirements- I put my husband on the ESB bill before he got here and that was fine as far as residency for the Irish authorities. As soon as you have the marriage cert, you can apply for a spousal visa (CR-1) to the USA; so you can do this and the US citizen can return back to the USA the day after the wedding. However, if the US citizen spouse is legally resident in Ireland for 6 months before applying for the visa, you can apply directly via the embassy. This is significantly faster than applying via the USA (we are talking around 6 weeks- see my timeline below- whereas applying the"normal" way via the USCIS in the USA takes 6-8 months).

Bye: Penguin

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
