Hello,

Our interview is coming up shortly in Rio and I am still trying to prepare.

I know I pay the Visa Fee at Citibank. How does that work ? Do I just walk in there and tell them I need to pay a Visa Fee ? Do I need forms ?

What about the medical ? I got the list of doctors where I can go too. Do I need to schedule an appointment or just walk in ? Do I just tell them I need a mecial for a visa etc ? How much does it cost ?

Thanks

O.

I don't know about the visa fee... maybe they have a citibank inside the RJ consulate?

About the doctors, you have to make an appointment, the prices can vary. Give them a call and find out which one it's cheaper in your area.

Good luck!

Citibank fee: Go there with your passport and tell them "I'm here to pay the USA Visa Fee". It's $131.00 and you'll get a small peace of paper which you have to bring with the other papers to your interview.

Here is the answer about the medical:

You're welcome.

I suggest you to call the Dr. Joaquim office, they will tell you if they can have everything done on the day before. I got there one day before my interview at 1pm and had my envelope with all exams ready at 4pm and I schedule my appointment 4 weeks in advance as I'm from south and had to book flights and hotel and all. They are very professional and won't let you make a mistake on it.

When you call them make sure to have your interview date in mind as your case number (the RDJ) number.

The ladies that work there as the doctor, they are great people and willing to help and explain everything to you.

Good luck, it's easier than sounds to be.

Beinha

Hmm ok.. beinha.

Since you went one day before the interview... and everything went ok maybe I should just leave the appointment alone.

I think ours is at 11 am. People tell me 2 different things.. that its not enough time, that the bloodwork takes 2 days.. etc

I understand your doubts but I suggest you to call them...

I'm telling you exactly what I did. I did this, I don't think that it may help, I'm sure about it. 3 other girls and 1 guy did this at the same doctor. They collect my blood at 1pm and they got the result at 3pm. But if you don't call them and make an appointment you will be here online wondering and having doubts. Keep it simple, call Dr. Joaquim and you can't show up there, you have to schedule it.

What is this blood test for? I thought they were not requiring HIV test anymore.

You guys gave me a great idea. I also have to do my medical soon and we don't have Immigration doctors here (SP - interior). So I might go to RJ earlier and get it all done before the interview. That way it will save me a trip to SP (hate going there, too much traffic).

To the OP, please keep us posted about what the doctor said.

It's for syphilis (and when I had my exames on October, they did HIV)

Dr. Joaquim is great!! And it's much easier to have your medical done a day before as you are supposed to be in Rio the day before. It was super easy, nothing to complain about.

Oh I see, forgot about the syphilis!

Also, do you remember how much you paid for the exams and appointment? I don't have medical insurance, so it will be all out of pocket anyway.

Thanks, you are being very helpful =)

Beinha, thanks so much! I won't need to pay the citibank fee since I'm applying for CR1, though. =)

Thanks a lot, I'll check your link! You are so helpful!

You're welcome!

Good luck on your interview. I have said before on previous posts and will repeat here something that I think it's very important: do not expect them to be nice and kind with you, that's not their job. At Embassy they are very polite but very professional. As soon as you realize that you can handle it! Plus, everything they ask you to do, you do... no matter if makes sense or not! :D
