I don't like #2. What's unfair about not making a team when presumably you're not good enough?

Being 'good enough' isn't necessarily a failure in you in terms of effort. Sometimes, your best is simply not good enough, that's hardly 'fair'.

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I used to play in school. I would prefer to hear "I'm sorry and better luck next year. If you keep the ball in your hand at all times and practice, practice, practice you may make the team." I always had the ball in my hands practicing. I even beat the male A team's best basketball player at a game of free throw at a school assembly in front of everybody. I made 8 shots in a row and he made 7 with each taking turns. That was a really validating moment. I haven't played or picked up a ball in about 10 years though. :( Life goes on.

When a parent was asked to really put themselves in the shoes of the teenager and then react to those different responses, here's what they wrote down:

1. Don't tell me how to feel.

2. You'll never understand.

3. You know what you can do with your questions!

4. You're taking everybody's side but mine.

5. I'm a loser.

6. That's the last time I'll ever tell you anything.

very serious. he/she can be part of a 'team' as long as they understand, when it comes right down to it...the only person on your 'team' is the one in the mirror.

So I take it you're not much of a fan of team sports like football or basketball?

That's not what you said. You said you would not allow them to take part in team sports period. That's still a very cynical view to impart to a kid to suggest that you can never rely on anyone else to do anything, is well, ridiculous. We rely on other people all the time, it's called living in society. Of course, if you can be your own doctor and surgeon, create your own energy supplies, have a well providing clean water, process your own waste, grow your own food, make everything you use, maybe, just maybe you do not depend on anyone else for your survival.

not much on basketball, i love football. i understand that a 'team' is a good/strong as its weakest player & the others on the team can't always make up for under performance by the weakest player.

I am glad no one who thinks like that works with me. One of the reasons I am where I am is because we do actually work like a team. And it wasn't forced on us, we just happen to not have any hyper-competitive personalities in the group and it works very well.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

So what? You may pay, but you still have to rely on other people to perform these tasks. It's got nothing to do with what one does or doesn't pay for the service, it's the fact that no one is an island.

do you work on 1 project together start to finish? or do you work individually & combine your work in the end to create the body of work?
