While having my medical exam today, the doctor told me that the Consulate General of the US and A Germany has decided to discontinue the collaboration with most of the German panel physicians (she mainly mentioned Leipzig and Berlin) as of April 2010...

Thought those of you planning your medical soon might be interested :)

Good day everyone and all the best!

I'm sorry, would you mind explaining more? Do you mean that the panel physicians on their published lists will no longer be able to give medical exams? Thanks.

Sure. It seems as if they are in fact cutting back on their (official) panel physicians.

As far as I know - my panel phy in leipzig being the only source so far - there will be fewer certified physicians to do the medical exam (fewer on their official list of panel physicians).

when i told her i was glad that i didn't have to drive far to get to her office, she told me that she would not be allowed much longer to do the medical exam - and that this would not only happen to the Leipzig panel phys.

i hope this was less confusing.
