NO Birth Certificate!!!

Hello everyone.

I am new to the forum...And I hoping you guys could help shed some light on my problem here

My parents are from Vn and I was born in a refugee camp in Malaysia in 1979. My parents do not have a birth certifcate for me. I know my fiance will need it. What should I do?

My husband dont have it and everything is fine. your us citizenship , it is almost same Birth certificate, no problem. Dont worry. Good luck !

Note : My husband from Laos, and C.o asked me why dont my husband have Birth certificate ? then i said he lost it in Laos and he can not come back Laos to get it.

you might be able to get away with just a copy of your passport book--that's what I used as my identifying document. Our pink slip even indicates that I didn't provide one (see my photos)--but your case may be different so keep searching for an answer.

My sister who was born in VN and only a few months when they immigrated didn't have a birth cert because my mom never filed. She requested one from the VN government a few years ago, and after quite a bit of hassle, they granted her a birth certificate. Again, your case is different because you were actually born in a refugee camp in Malaysia...so hopefully someone else can chime in...

I think every case is different but at my interview, the C.O requested my birth certificate. I submitted a copy of my passport in the initial I-130. But on the interview checklist, you need the petitioner birth certificate. I had to have my mom overnite it to me in VN, cost me $70 :angry:

Timeline

I was born in Laos at home and my mom does not have a birth certificate for me. I emailed the Lao embassy in Canada and they are advising me to get a lawyer on my behalf to contact Lao Embassy to issue a birth certificate. Is this necessary?

Jan 7/13 - NOA1 received

Mar 13/13 - received NOA2 (after 48 business days from NOA1)
