It may well be that the liberals have hogged the debate, but certainly I do not remember one health care reform measure being put forward during the Bush years. Now, granted I didn't live in the US during all of them, but, since I have been here, I have not heard one GOP member engage in a positive discussion about meaningful health care reform. You seemed so certain with your answers, I assumed you could simply point me in the direction of some GOP members statements. I guess you simply don't know you just believe that must be true without any evidence.

They did Medicare D. Not all that bad, actually.

I just read about the 'donut hole' and the benefits procured by the bills proponants. Nice

Adding on something that should have been added already for the seniors is fine, but that still leaves no plans for a large portion of the population. Anyone anything else to offer?

Medicare D is prescription drug coverage for the 65+ crowd. It's not perfect but it is good.

Good? Yes. Paid for? No. You know, the now all so fiscally conservative crowd wasn't all that fiscally conservative when they happened to run the show. I'd suspect they'd drop that fiscally conservative mantle right quick were they to run it again. History bears that out quite impressively.

I didn't ask you to pay for my health care, and even if the government ever did instigate Universal Health care, you would not be the net contributor.

So, that's a no then, you really don't know anything positive that the GOP are offering in terms of health care reform at this time, or during the last 8 years of Bush? Thanks, that's what I thought.

medicare D was in exchange for war funding. bush would have vetoed medicare D otherwise. when med D was passed, the dems were saying that bush, although supposedly conservative, always, without hesitation, without argument, signed the budget. bush and the dems had a deal few know about - war funding and going along with the war in exchange for dem programs (med D being one of them). the dems had bush right where they wanted him, he was so in favor of war, he would agree to anything to continue and he did, with dem's sort of silent support.

when the dems won back the congress in 2006, they did so with the anti-war message, but once in power, they did nothing to block any war effort.... it was still full steam ahead on war even though they campaigned on the anti-war platform. dems made a deal with bush... dems get the funding they want for their pet projects and bush gets war support.
