I think that OPM isn't the right term for Philippine music because the ones that are really popular are not original but old songs from other countries given a little remake and sung by the younger Filipino generation. Even MYMP and Nina sing such.

Have you heard of the Tagalog version of Leona Lewis' "Bleeding"? The chorus is like, "Walang tigil pagdaloy ng dugo..." Eowww...

Still, I am looking back at the days when the only reasons I'd watch ASAP in the Philippines were for the "Sessionista" portion and when the "Kanto Boys" perform.

Even the youth nowadays frown upon kundiman.

I am far from being nationalistic (I don't even watch Filipino movies) but there are some of our country's features that are commendable.

Do you still listen to Filipino music?

I'm the wife of an American Soldier;

I'm the hope that lives within him after storm clouded days.

The freedom from war that gives wings to his heart,

May they reach across the miles and bind our hearts together

against all that we must face in this world.

Yes. I like Lani Misalucha and some local bands. You can buy songs from I-tunes or download from Lime wire.

Yes, naiiyak talaga ako lalo na pag pinapakinggan ko ang "Kanlungan". :crying::crying::crying:

I think McDo used "Kanlungan" years ago in one of their ads on TV.

It has always been a meaningful song. Thanks for stirring my memory.
