At our AOS interview, when the CO told me she was approving us, I gave her a copy of my travel plans for 6 weeks later and she said "I'd better put an AOS stamp in there, just in case the green card doesn't come through in time. It'll save you having to make an appointment if it doesn't."

So, yes, they can do it at the interview stage if you are confirmed successful OR you can request an Infopass appointment between the interview and receiving the green card.

RoC Interview: Not required

RoC Approved: 08/04/2011

10 yr Green card received: 08/10/2011

If you were approved at the interview, then make an INFOPASS appointment and bring your passport with you. They'll be able to see on the screen there that you've been approved, and if you need to leave the country right away, they'll stamp your passport which will be the same as having your GC, so that you can leave. Best of luck!
