What's the fastest I can expect a response from an RFE?

USCIS received our response on 12/31/09. They say expect a response within 60 days but I'm hoping it doesn't take that long. Anyone care to chime in how long it took them to respond? In this case they wanted some affidavit's verifying my wife's Birth Certificate.

They are pretty good at not going past 60 days.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

There's alot of posts here about this Thai birth certificate thing and AOS. I've seen a few people have their birth certificate accepted at the K-1 interview in Bangkok, and then rejected for AOS. My wife doesn't have a Thai birth certificate cause she was born out in the sticks in 1974, and they were just starting to issue them out there. She had to go to the Amphur with her mother and get a document stating when and where she was born and that there was no birth certificate. Then get that translated. There's a member here that went through what you're going through. His name is DVDDVD. You might want to PM him.

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

I wish there was a way that we could pin something about this, or maybe put it in the guides especially for Thailand. I've seen this happen more than a few times where the embassy will take what they have for proof or birth, but then USCIS wont take and issue an RFE. Once the SO is here, it's a major pain to get a B/C once they are already here.

WOW WOW! Just saw an update on the site that my wife's Green Card is being made and will be shipped. Finally this leg of the journey is complete. Man it feels so good after so many starts and stops.

What I did was make 2 Affidavit's from elder relatives stamped by the village headman. Then I got 2 other relatives to get a document stamped by the Laos government, ministry of Foreign affairs that further certifies that my wife was born where and when she said she was. I know my profile says Thailand but my wife is Laos. She lived in Thailand all her life and Thai is her first language which is why I have it that way.

Best of luck to everyone and this site was instrumental in our success.
