ok now i'm crying lol. on my police check from the OPP it came back that i have no record. but i still got my fingerprints done just incase. i wasn't lying when i answered the question i was just flat out stupid because i thought i wasn't arrested because i wasn't in handcuffs or anything and i didn't think i was charged because my charges were dropped. sometimes i am really dumb. do you think that i should maybe email montreal and tell them or just wait til the interview?!? it's just killing me here.

Sorry to say this, but if you were officially charged, then yes...you very well might have a problem. Honesty and transparency in all aspects of the process is encouraged, and it MAY look like you're trying to cover up a criminal charge. If the police check doesn't bring up anything, there's a good chance that you won't be asked anything further about criminal history at your interview. But there will definitely be a problem if you don't get a cleared name check back. It may be something that can be rectified easily, but ultimately it might have been a costly mistake on your end.

Hope I'm wrong for your sake!

From what I have read A criminal record does not get you denied. I know that even if I still have a record it would be one charge and it is a Small charge.

I was unsure of what to put as , from what I know I shouldnt have a record as The last time i had a police check was 8 years ago. But i did a rcmp check just incase it was still on my record ( which i will have to get purge if it is as it was a conditional discharge)

Well, like I said, if the name check doesn't bring up anything, then you should be fine. I doubt they would ask, but I don't know if anyone here can say definitively whether or not it's going to be a problem for you.

WAS it a juvenile incident? Were the charges actually dropped? If so, then you weren't actually charged, were you? Ultimately, don't overthink things! If you weren't actually charged and nothing came up on the name check, you should be fine...but again, there's no way to know definitively what the consular officer is going to ask you.

It doesnt really matter whether I was Or I wasnt charged.. I will put I was charged and the details such as Juv offense... conditional discharge and If it is off my record then it is and if it isnt then I will deal with that at that stage.

i did it when i was 20 so it is not a juvenile charge. i know i have the tendency to think and think and think and stress myself and fiance out. i guess i will just have to wait 'til the day of the interview and see what happens and if it is brought up then just explain how stupid i am. lol.

Well, I'm no expert since my case went through with no problems, and I never had any concerns with police check etc. But I remember Codybanks from this site had (and is possibly still having?) some MAJOR issues with getting into the U.S. based on a charge he had from the 1980's...though the problem came at the BORDER, and not from the interview. It's best to be honest at every step of the way, but in the case of the OP, it looks like she WASN'T actually charged and shouldn't have anything on her record, which means it's not worth bringing up unless it's asked about (which it likely wouldn't be, since it doesn't look to have been a charge...). It really comes down to the CO, and what they ask you and how you respond. At that stage, none of us can really advise you beyond just being honest.

Yeah...honestly, if you've never had any problems at any stage and your name check comes up clear, then you should be fine. Be mentally prepared in the back of your head for someone to ask about it at some point, but I really don't think it's going to come up again.
