Hi, my husband received his biometrics appointment for Jan 19, but we'll be travelling. I've read that people in other offices have simply walked in with their appointment letter (and passport, etc) to their office and had no trouble getting in for an earlier time.

Has anyone done that in the OMaha office? How did it go?

And for those of you who've walked-in in other offices, did you call first, or just walk in??

Thanks! And Happy New year!

Hi Rebecca, one of our October AOS filers tried to do an early walk-in bio at the Omaha office and was turned away. See the spreadsheet link below, we have two October filers that had the bio at Omaha and you may want to contact them for more info.

For those that were able to do an early bio at other ASC offices, they just walk in. Here in Honolulu I asked when we went for our appointment and they said as long as you had the bio appointment letter, they would let you take it early.

Good luck.

Greg

Thank you very much Greg. I recognize Minnew, so I'll pm her and see what she has to say. I think we might just head over there and see what happens. We can't make our appointment, so if they can't take us this week, we'll have to reschedule!

Thanks again very much for responding! And how do I get on a spreadsheet like the October filing one? We filed in December.

Happy New Year!

Hi Rebecca, I think it's good to try the walk in. It may be up to the discretion of the people on duty. I've heard of some people talking their way in after first being told to come back on the appointment date.

Check into the December AOS files topic. I don't know if someone is doing a spreadsheet, but that's where to look.

Good luck with the walk in.

Just an update:

We made an infopass appointment online (we were able to schedule an infopass appointment in less than a week- I was impressed with that) and went this morning to the Omaha office. We asked if Ahmed could do the biometrics today because we were going to be out of town. He called down to the biometrics people who told him it would be ok if we came AFTER the appointment. He sent us down to the biometrics room so they could tell us the same thing. They can't do the biometrics early, but it would be no problem if we did a walk-in after the date of our appointment. The lady wrote their hours on our original appointment form and gave Ahmed another form to fill out and bring with him when he goes in. His appointment was originally scheduled for January 19, and he's planning on walking in on the 21st.

She said they were less busy in the afternoon. Oh, and that if we tried to reschedule, it would probably be another 45 days. So we're happy we went this route, did the infopass and got the info.

I'll update when he goes back.

Also, I sort of wonder if we hadn't gone in maybe a day or two before the appointment (as opposed to a week), if they could have done the biometrics. But we'll never know!!

So in sum, I would definitely advise people to try a walk-in, or schedule an infopass (if you're uncomfortable with trying a walk-in), before rescheduling.

Thanks for the advice!

Cheers,

Rebecca and Ahmed

ps, don't use Googlemaps or mapquest for directions to the Omaha USCIS. what a nightmare. The USCIS website gives better directions. It's on the corner of Abbott Drive and Ave H. RIght across from the LaQuinta Inn and Sleep Inn.
