Well, setting fire to her mum bedroom is extreme. Point is however, that it's not a function of there being or not being a father figure in the home (which is an assumption on their part anyway) but rather a function of either mental illness or lack of parental guidance or a combination of the two.

Bullsh1t. Severe mental illness has no regard for how many parents are in the house - it just attacks. And in all honesty, to have one decent parent is way better than have a drunkard who beats mommy as a "dad".

Back when I was growing up there was a lot less severe mental illness because kids were more scared of an @$$ whoopin and weren't permitted to allow their mental illnesses to just attack. Whenever they felt a strong case of mental illness coming on, they suppressed it with a stronger image of mama chasing them with that kitchen spoon.
