Well, if I did run a red light, I should pay. But I just don't remember it that way. I'm mostly concerned about how this will effect my insurance premiums.

running a red light is really harmful to the insurance premium, and unlike speeding, i'm not sure driver's ed/school (whatever they call it) can keep this off your record. i'd try to keep it off my record.

interesting that the two of you live close to each other.... i wish i lived close to MC and Steve ... all of us could have dinner together on Friday nights for sure!

It happened late last night. From what I recall the flash happened as I was almost all the way through the intersection and there was another car ahead of me by about 40 feet. I just don't recall running a red light or if I did, then so did the other driver.

According to what I've been reading, the radar isn't always accurate...and that you can appeal the ticket.

You know that photo radar there on El Toro and Moulton? That's the one. Before moving to Lake Forest, I lived in Laguna Beach for nearly 5 years and not once tripped it off.

On a red light? If your back tires are behind the magic line, BINGO! SMILE FOR THE CAMERA!

From the ehow article:

Explain to the judge that for one, while the photo resembles your person driving the car, it could very well be somebody else. There is no DNA evidence that confirms this picture is actually you.

There is nothing disingenuous about a camera catching people running red lights. Junctions are hazards that create innumerable potentially dangerous situations. If you are approaching a junction and can't stop in time when the lights change then you are approaching the junction at an inappropriate speed.

honey, as nearly always, you got that right too! i'm really concerned about junctions, because broadside hits result in deaths nearly at the same rate that head-on crashes do. broadside might be even worse since most run of the mill cars don't have side impact bags.

I was sent a "photo radar ticket" thru the mail for also going thru a red light here in Tucson. I viewed the photos online from the site the ticket showed. Yes it was my license plate, no it WASN'T my car nor my picture!!! Was a photo of an asian man (i'm a caucasian female) with a soccer ball hanging from him rear view mirror. I called the number (was an 800 #) and spoke to a lady there. I told her under NO circumstances was this me or my car, but it was my plate. She had me fax my drivers license showing my picture and that was proof enough for her to dismiss my ticket! I don't like nor trust photo radar.

Steve isn't denying he went through the junction at that time though, different scenario. Yours was easier to disprove, fortunately for you ;)

Or should that be prove? Either way, Steve is not saying it wasn't him...but that somehow the camera was 'tripped' when he was performing a legal manoever.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I'm wondering if I had gone through while it was yellow but it turned red before my rear tire crossed over the side, that is what triggered it?

I don't know exactly what the trigger points are. It's a #######, that's for sure. I would ring the insurers and find out what they are likely to do and take it from there.
