Hello all, we finally got our approval after 93 days :)

I have a few questions but I want to start with: The paperwork I send to her will be in English, do I have to translate it to Romanian (US Embassy in Bucharest, Romania)? I am thinking that I don't have to but I want to be certain :)

The continued support paper that I have to submit, it says that I need it to be addressed to the Consulate...which means the Bucharest Embassy right? What is the proper way to put this in writing along with the address?

Congrats (again! I posted on the other thread as well :) )

No, she doesn't have to translate anything in Romanian for the Embassy. It's quite the viceversa. If she has papers/documents in Romanian, they must be translated in English. Yes, you address the papers (as the Letter of Intent - like the one you put in the I-129F, but different date, as Jan. 2010 I assume) to the Consular Section in Bucharest (it's the only one we have here anyway). This should help http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...p;cty=Bucharest

Good luck!! And please, ask Lili to tell us how it went at the interview!

thank you, yes I will relate the interview to everyone on here :) Also another question I just remembered, if I don't make enough money, how can I have a sponsor? Does my sponsor fill out the I134 instead of me? Or do I use a separate sheet?

You both have to file the I-134 on separate sheets. You and the co-sponsor. Maybe this will give a clue http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=support

You can have someone from your family or a friend to help you with that. It's really no big deal... in my opinion. But first make sure you make enough money so you won't need a co-sponsor. Look for the poverty guideline. http://travel.state.gov/visa/laws/telegram...grams_4437.html

Most US consulates will accept documents in either the language of the country they're located in, or english. If your documents are in english, you there is no need to translate them to romanian.

The address to put on the updated Letter of Intent to Marry is:

Embassy of the United States of America

Consular Section

Str. Nicolae Filipescu 26

Sector 2, Bucharest

020962 Romania

thanks again, you both are great! Stephen, so the poverty guidelines basically tells me that I have to make more than 18k a year to support 2 people? If that's the case then I'm ok :) BUT, here comes the big but :D , I don't really use a bank account that much since I pay my bills as soon as I get my check and the remainder stays in my dad's account :D . I know, I know, I need to get my own soon, I just never really needed one. Will NOT having a checking account be a problem?

From what I've read here on the forum, no, I don't think it is a problem NOT having an account. If you make more than 18k/y would be enough proof of support (send her copies of your pay checks). The embassy here is an "easy" one, also from what I've read... And I think they just want to make sure of your actual income. We're in the same situation since Stephen has just relocated in the US, after 6 years in Romania. He found a job recently and make over 18k, but he doesn't have an account yet. So I looked for this stuff and from what I saw here, this shouldn't be a problem. If you want to get a good sleep at night by the time of Lili's interview, ask your father to file as co-sponsor. And you will be fine. If there's anything else we could help you guys with, don't hesitate to pm us. We are just as anxious and nervous about this "journey" as well. And we only have hope that it will all be great in the end...

:) thanks again for the help

I was told that in the original I129F paperwork that I've sent I should've mentioned a co-sponsor if I want to add one now? I hardly believe that is true but have you heard of such thing?

another question :) Personal property on I134 is considered what? Tv? Car? Bicycle? :D

Also number 11 on the I134 where you have to state if you INTEND or NOT INTEND to make specific contributions to the support of the person (my fiance) ... do I check INTEND or DO NOT INTEND to make specific contributions?

I mean isn't it obvious that I am already agreeing to support her in any way shape or form? DO I have to specify how much money I will give her monthly, weekly etc or for how long her room and board is? I'm confused..

I've never heard of that co-sponsor stuff included in I-129F! I don't remember the part with the petitioner as a sponsor either. USCIS doesn't need it! Only the embassy does.

I guess personal property is considered an apartment or some land you own. You may include a bike or a last generation of led tv, but the CO might have no sense of humour... :D

On item 11 on the I-134 you would fill N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence ) as you can find it here: http://www.visajourney.com/examples/Form-I-134.pdf

I hope that helps.

Cheers!

Got the hard copy letter of approval yesterday :)

Ok so now I need to make a copy of that to add to the paperwork, the Affidavit of Support copy along with my tax 1040's for the last 2 years and paystubs for passed few months? That's it? Keep in mind, these items are to be added to the stack of exact copies of paperwork I sent to USCIS. And yes I remembered to re-do another Letter of Intent addressed accordingly and dated now :)
