Its simple logic, really.

Simple logic is that all people are greedy and will use as much as they can whenever they can. China and India don't use less because they're accustomed to using less... it's because they can't!

To say the U.S. will use less per capita as technology advances and we figure out better ways to improve.... ah, has that been historically the case? Are we using less energy now than we did 50 years ago? Are we using less than we did 5 years ago?

Why would we use less 50 years from now if it's inherent among all human beings to use as much as we can possibly afford and have access to? That's not a uniquely American trait, is it?

Does it mean we will in the future? You're assuming that consumption would be directly proportional to emission, and duh... its the point I am speculating on for the future. That would be the entire point of having more efficient technologies... but come on slim... for a person that calls a car's accelerometer '#######' because its improvement may have been funded by a progress-interested government... the Red Herring still smells there.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

So is that same progress-interested government going to figure out ways to reduce the overall consumption per-capita?

Historically speaking, they've figured out ways to make "#######" more efficient, but then we've just used more ####### more often. Why is that going to change?
