In the four years I have been following events on this and another board I cannot recall anyone posting that the Embassy asked for more medical information once the doctor had given the applicant the OK.

Sweet, I'm confident we won't be asked. Thanks for weighing in. :)

Congrats musikgal! Hope you got back to sleep... I was so nervous before my fiance had his interview I didn't sleep at all that night. Made for an "excellent" next day :bonk:

Yes, I didn't sleep much at all. Finally I was so exhausted I passed out and I woke up on my own at 4am, very ironic because that is when my fiance called unexpectedly. My heart dropped because he was going to text me, so when I saw the number I was worried. I didn't mind being woken up at all, it was well worth it! :)

Not looking forward to the next process though for the green card, I'm tired of paperwork already. ha ha

Heh, I've already got done everything for AOS, AP, and EAD I can do on my own. Challenges ahead: getting a "civil surgeon" to just copy over my fiance's vaccination record without giving him a checkup (how ###### pointless), and getting a copy of our certified marriage certificate before we leave Vegas for the weekend wedding.

I'm really frustrated at the medical delay now. Northern Ireland was off for FOUR days for Easter, including EASTER TUESDAY (#######), and now when we call they say they're "way too backed up" to get to our file because of all the time off for Easter. AAAAUGH :bonk:

Incidentally, I don't know how anyone can deal with this whole process and in addition have a full-blown, flowers/dress/cake/music wedding with relatives. I would go mad trying to plan something like that as well. I'm so much happier with our $150 Elvis impersonator in Vegas plan. I think the wedding will take 30 minutes. Perfect.

A quick question for you guys. On the readiness checklist one of the items requested is a "notarized statement." Eeek... I just reread that. When you say "normally they would want a psych evaluation," is that something the Knightsbridge doctor said? We are hoping that with a note from the fiance's gp, a psych evaluation would not be needed... we're really not in the mood to shell out hundreds of pounds and wait longer for this useless step. I'm guessing if the embassy asked for psych evaluations often, more people in the forums would have mentioned that... I don't see this.

Her exact words were 'psychiatric letter' which I would take to mean I would be required to see a psychiatrist, but I didn't press her further. I honestly don't know so really sorry if I made you worry unnecessarily!! :(

Perfect.

LOL I'm attempting the whole flowers/dress/cake/music thing, but fortunately (or unfortunately depending on which way you look at it) I am the world's worst bride, so I'm quite relaxed about the whole thing. Ceremony and reception are all covered in a package we got at the Marriott so the big things are all sorted - and I'm not fussed about the little things :)

It does mean though that when I go and visit in 13 days time (woooooo!!!) I will spend 11 days running around sorting wedding stuff rather than relaxing by the pool!!

Sorry guys, just a quick question that doesn't really require its own thread. I called/emailed the embassy on the 6th and I was just wondering how long they usually take to reply to emails?

Thanks, Tom.

A quick question for you guys. On the readiness checklist one of the items requested is a "notarized statement." He is not a notary public though. Are they very picky about this at the embassy? Do you think a solicitor witnessing is adequate or do we need to find ourselves a notary public somewhere? Thanks!

I took that to mean that we should just submit new statements of intent that we had signed (notarized). Is that not the case?

Shouldn't be a problem with London. I had an RFE for my I-130 (we filed DCF so we were both in London) and it required affidavits from people who knew my husband and me. We had these sworn to in front of a solicitor because she did it as a freebie. No issue at all. I think a lot of it comes down to the very different roles that notaries in the US and UK play -- I won't get into it, but suffice to say that much of what a US notary does in the way of attesting to signatures and taking oaths is done by solicitors in the UK.

We received the passport with visa and brown envelope back today. Not bad for an appt on Tuesday! We didnt expect it this soon - he hadn't left an ID here so I was searching through his bin to find a utility bill or something with his name on it when the guy showed up haha!

I think i let the ball drop big time on this one :(

I just sent my P3 back to the embassy today, what seems to be the likely interview date at the moment based on this? Looking at 60+ days according to that post a bit further up?

Looking to leave the UK by the end of July for the Wedding Aug 29th, have i just screwed up?

The notarized statement requirement, can anyone confirm this is needed from both petitioner and uh, petitionee? Is the statement just the same one that was sent to USCIS, but with a current date? The notarization, does it hold the same allowances as the police form notarization for the photo's?

Thanks.

Most people have been getting interview dates within 60 days. Delays and problems can always happen, but you have a good shot. I still wouldn't recommend booking tickets or scheduling a wedding before the visa's in hand, but if your wedding is in late August you're probably ok.

As for a notarized statement... I don't think that's actually a requirement. Our statements were not notarized, and the Embassy has not been asking anyone for them during the interview. I'd just make a new statement with a more current date to bring to the interview - we did, no problems.
