I got an awesome deal on an LCD TV with a built in DVD player. It's a 22 inch. But even with the shipping cost that it will cost to ship there, it's still way cheaper than it is to buy a TV in the Philippines with a flat screen. This TV has dual voltage and can take anything between 100-240 volts, so that's not an issue. On wikipedia and other sources it says the Philippines takes NTSC for their broadcasting signal.

The TV I bought works for ATSC/NTSC and DVB-T(I think). Shouldn't it work in the Philippines?

I'm also wondering if mailing priority or priority express is guarenteed. I know that it can be insured but I don't want the TV to get stolen in the mail. They have global guarenteed express as well. Anyone have any experience sending valuables in the mail?

SHipping.

I shipped a old laptop over there, and insured it for like $1,000, They held it at customs and it cost like $350 more dollars upon shipping cost to have it released. That was thru Fed Ex.

If I was gonna ship again, I would declare the value of zero dollars, and put no insurance.

As far the tv signal, I have no clue.

For presents in PI, I have always found money is always appropiate in any case.......

Use DHL to ship it, declare the value as less than $400 and that it's used.

If PH customs tries to jack you on the tariff DHL has it's own employees in the PH and they will go to bat for you. search my posts you'll find my experiences with UPS and DHL, worlds apart...

I'd never ship anything of value via USPS because PH Postal Service is known for packages never arriving.

What brand and model has both 120/240 ?

if its small enough you can ship in a box for about 130 dollars and just through some clothing over it.

We shipped a computer tower and flat screen to mom and dad that way and it went without a hitch.

I will certainly check into DHL and FOREX...I dont live that far from Omaha! I just don't want the package to be turned over to PHIL POST because they are so slow and are more likely to steal the contents.

The TV is actually a Coby 22" LCD with a built in DVD player. It's a cheaper brand but given the price and the low weight it's ideal. They just need something nice to watch TV with via antenna and have a way to watch movies since they've never had a DVD PLayer. It would save me money to have a built in DVD Player rather than buy a seperate one and pay all the more shipping. I got it on amazon for 250 dollars and free shipping. The only bad things I read about it is that the remote isn't that good and the speakers aren't loud enough...but you can always hook up external speakers if you have to. They have a really small apartment house so they don't need anything big. It's a vast improvement from the old broken down tube tv.

I just shipped a 32 inch LCD in a Balikbayan box to Cebu and it should take about 1 1/2 months to get there. It cost 115.00 to ship it and i packed a lot of cloths around it so i think it will make it there OK. And i didn't insure it or list it I'm willing to take the chance it will make it there OK and they can use a power converter to step down the power. Most Filipino stores ship boxes.
