I'm filling out the paper work for adjustment of status for my wife whom I recently married. I'm not really clear on which last name I should be using. She will be changing her last name to mine, however we haven't done so yet. Which last name should I use? The one that appears in her passport and J-1 visa, or my last name? Thanks

Ok, so another question arises. Her J-1 visa has expired, so she is currently out of status. If she was to change her name to mine and applied for another social security card, her request would be denied correct?

Do you think it would be better to file all the paper work with her maiden name and then change her last name to mine after everything has been approved and she has her green card and all the other necessary paperwork?
