Submitting Documents to VFS office in 7-10 days prior?

My fiance was just informed yesterday by email (also the day his interview letter is dated), that his interview will be on Dec. 9th. The soonest he could get a medical appoinment is Monday. This hardly gives him time to get the documents in before 7-10 days. If you don't count Thanksgiving and the weekend (working days) then Then Wednesday (tommorrow!) is day 10 and Monday is day 7.

Regardless of exactly "when" he should submit them it's a little close! So what do you do if you can't submit everything "in time?"

Try calling different doctors office, maybe some might be little less busy than others? :-) good luck

I am not sure about it totally but as a IR-1 applicant I had a choice to submit medical at VFS or take it to consulate on the interview date. May be call up VFS and ask if he can submit everything else without the medical or not, I would assume he can but still do call and be sure of it.

Our interview is on December 7, 2009 and we are submitting to VFS on Nov 25th. You can always call VFS and verify as that is what my fiance did. THey will tell you the alloted time when is a good time for you to submit. Also, I heard one of the medical facilities in Mumbai gives you the results the same day. I would just call the ones from Mumbai as the VFS is there as well. Good luck!

Thanks everyone...it would have been nice if they'd given a bit more notice. He hasn't even gotten packet 4 by mail yet, good thing he emailed them I guess.

All the forms are available on the consulates website. Packet 4 includes DS 156K, DS 156, and DS 230 Part II. Also, they give you the guidelines for the poverty line which is also available on the website. I guess the only thing he needs to wait for is the appointment letter in the mail which is included in packet 4. Also, they give you a list of the medical places he can take his medical at.

When my fiance called the VFS office they gave him a broader time range and said that if it is somewhat late then it is ok. Just posting for anyone who needs to know in the future.
