Hello,

My wife has her interview at the Bangkok Embassy on 12/18/2009. Assuming everything goes well how long does it take to actually recieve her CR1 Visa stamp? I'm hopeing that she can be here for Christmas, what are the chances of her being able to arrive before Christmas. She works for Thai Air so getting to the US from Bangkok is not an issue.

Thank You,

Todd Christensen

If there are no issues, it should only take couple of days. As for making to USA before X-mas, couldn't tell. As for me, trying to make in time for X-mas is not too much of a priority because once you are together, you will have a life time together. Anyway, Good luck and best wishes always.

My guess is that she will make it, not based on my own experience but seeing many that have gone before.

However if she must stay in BKK until she gets it and there is a delay, being able to

fly to the US at any time won't help.

The holiday season is definitely not working in your favor, but you could get lucky.

There may be a drastic reduction in staff as many will want to take leave

in the States during the holiday.

Best wishes,

If there are no problems, I think it is possible. Interview on Friday the 18th, get visa on 22nd and she can catch the daily evening Thai air flight to LAX and be there on the same day.

I've noticed, for that flight one way-- it's the same price whether you get it that day or a month in advance.

They are running 2 to 4 days right now. My wife just had her K3 interview and was told to pick up in 2 days. Other ladies last week she talked was told in 4 days come back for the visa.

We are actively looking for BKK- NYC flights now - I noticed that the end of December is getting very cheap for a single - seat one way.

-Kuwait Air

We may buy it next week. January looks more expensive but towards the end of February prices start to fall again.

I think the time factor shifts in the favor of the passenger as the flight date approaches - especially for single seats

as family groups often travel in groups of 2 or more.

If there are empty seats on the airline, they still have to pay to support them even if there's not a body there.

It's better to sell them cheaply.
