How to secure New Passport

Hi fellow Vj's, just a quick question here, i am getting my new passport now using my new surname with my husband..i ask some of the people here in the travel agency, and they told me to get a CFO Seminar in Manila before getting a new passport with new husband surname, is that true? I got married Oct 29 and wanted to change my passport with new surname now..Will i not just go directly to DFA to secure a new passport with new surname without the CFO Seminar, since our petition will still be submitted after getting my new passport...Please help on what to do please? thanks alot and God Bless us all.

my wife just changed her passport with my surname. she just went to DFA to get it done. u can go CFO seminar after ur interview. so i think u can get ur passport done.hope my advice is ok

I was asked for a photocopy of CFO (green) certificate when I applied in July using my husband's name.

September 2007-- Met Online (FilipinaHeart.com)
March 12,2009-- Married at Quezon City Hall of Justice
USCIS/NVC STAGE
May 8,2009-- I-130 Sent
August 17,2009-- I-130 Approved
August 26, 2009--case received at NVC
November 5,2009--CASE COMPLETED
USEM MANILA STAGE/ U.S. SOIL
November 17-18,2009--Medical PASSED
December 10, 2009--Interview @ 8:30AM A-P-P-R-O-V-E-D
January 25, 2010--FLIGHT(Manila-Japan-Detroit,MI-Buffalo,NY)
February 22,2010-- 2-yr GREEN CARD received
February 26, 2010--SSN received
REMOVING of CONDITIONS
December 22, 2011-- I-751 mailed
February 28, 2012-- Biometrics done
October 10, 2012-- 10-yr GREEN CARD received
NATURALIZATION
January 09, 2013-- sent N-400
January 28, 2013-- Biometrics

May 22, 2013-- Interview Passed- Officially a US Citizen!

Go do the seminar first. Some get away changing names without doing the seminar. However you'll eventually have to do it anyway and you may as well get it out of the way.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

yup i went to DFA and had my passport done 2 days ago but they didn't ask for any CFO green certificate which is good cos i don't have one :lol: i attended the seminar in PRISM and they gave me a yellow certificate of attendance. so i don't know what that green one is :blink: anyways i called pilipinas teleserv a day before my DFA appointment and the lady said that DFA requires the CFO green certificate if you've been married less than 6 months. they don't ask for it if you're married more than 6 months.

the things they asked from me were my NSO certified MC, certified true copy of my BC (not NSO) and photocopy of the old passport's 1-4 pages and the back. and the application form and pictures of course :)

it's better you set an appointment online. i did and i was done in less than half an hour :thumbs:

Hi. I applied for a passport last wednesday this time using my married name. I used to have a passport but that was using my single status name and have to renew it to married status name and so i went to a Renewal Entrance gate after verifications. I wasn't asked for CFO certificates but if they did I will get it. I will get my passport on December 3 on releasing window. I think weather u get a CFO cert now or later , its the sae thing bcoz all of us will end up with them bcoz can't go outside foreign country without CFO sticker. I'll just get all at once in st. mary after i get a visa.
