I have filed for my fiance as you all well know. He is waiting for his interview date. Well capable of sponsoring him with no problem. I have a very good job with great income. I have a family of 4 and with child support and my income am about $60,000.00 per year.

My question is, my sister has filed for her fiance and she needs a co sponsor which offcourse she asked me to be her co-sponsor since she is on unemployment at the moment. she has a family of 3 plus the new husband makes it 4. If i am to co-sponsor her will it be a problem for me. i filed k1 and she also did file k1. Please help me.

Her petition has already been approved and her fiance is waiting for his letter to come in the mail to pick up his packet. Their interview dates our going to be very close and i don't know if it will be a problem since we have not finished the process. We have to file my fiance 's permanent residency when he gets here.

PLEASE HELP!

By my count, you are going to be sponsoring 6 for your fiance. That's you, the 4 kids and your fiance. Add the sister's fiance, you're on a count of 7. You are not required to demonstrate that you are financially supporting your sister and kids, unless you count them as dependents on your tax return.

Poverty line for 7 people is $41,587 until approx. Feb 2010. You are well in the clear if child support is a countable income.

Yes you can co-sponsor. Your family size will be 5. Your family of four (I presume that includes you) and your sisters fiance. You do not count your sister or her children. Child support IS income and IS counted provided it can be documented (court order and proof of payment) again presuming you mean you receive child support, rather than pay it. If you pay child support it is not counted against you, they look at only your gross income. The only caveat with child support is that if it is scheduled to end soon, due to a child reaching age 18, for example, the consulate may not count it. I think you are well over the guidelines in any case.
