I've been in such a fog all day.

Left home around 2am, got in TO at 5:30am, was out of my medical at 8am, home before noon and drifted between sleep and consciousness for the next three hours. have a feeling today is a wee bit shot, haha.

I figure that packing is going to be a priority of mine about three weeks from now. Get the interview over with next week, decorate the house the week after, and then deal with dividing all of my ####### into the plastic containers I bought. Although I still live with my parents and don't have a whole house-worth of stuff to pack, for the past couple of years I've been purchasing housewares and storing them in my closet, so that's going to take a couple of containers on its own...

Ben's going to drive up here during Christmas in his truck, then we're going to load it with my stuff and head on down with it. So much cheaper than renting a uhaul, especially when his truck hardly gets any use but still has a large payment coming out of the account for it each month. I'm kind of disappointed that his truck doesn't have a trailer hitch, though... means I have to attempt to sell my car here. It would've been so much better to take it down with me, considering I'll maybe get half what I paid for it now, and it runs perfectly fine. I'd probably get another three years out of it. :(

And those pumpkin spice cookies sound delicious! Bet it'd go great with my coffee... :D

Whoa whoa whoa.

A trailer hitch is VERY easy and cheap to get installed. I don't think you'd be looking at any more than $100. Chances are his truck will be able to tow your car, too.

Honestly, it shouldn't be that big of a deal getting a hitch installed and attaching your car to it.

I'm not sure if there are any other issues preventing you bringing your car down, but if not...get hitched, then get hitched!

It's really that easy?

I know nothing about cars/trucks/whathaveyou. He didn't know what all would be involved with hitching my car to his, outside of the fact that he'd have to install a hitch to his truck and then we'd still have to get the dolly to lift my car's tires, and something about wiring up my lights to his...

Seemed confusing and overly complicated, but if it's as easy as you say, maybe I should push him to look into it.

No, I don't relish the idea of his truck towing my car during the end of December with snow as a possibility... but I don't like the idea of it sitting here waiting to be sold when it's in perfectly fine shape.

I just looked this up since I wasn't sure. I am REALLY bored at work today... Some U-haul locations can install hitches for you and they will help you pick out the right one for your vehicle online. The prices vary, but a $100-$200 investment on a hitch and you get to keep your car? It sounds like a good investment to me! U-haul also rents car trailers or a car dolly to move it. Tell him to check out www.uhaul.com and click the vehicle towing link.

I'm in a hotel in Mississauga, working for one of my (better-paying) clients for the week. Trying to get as much work in before I head to the states and am in uncertain employment terms for a few months. :)

This whole thing would be better if ScooterMac were here; they even gave me a king bed that's way too big for just me :P

Speaking of which, anyone have some suggestions for things to do out here?

Ah, so I found what you were looking at.

$119 to install the hitch listed for his vehicle, $150approx. for the car dolly, $100approx. for a letter from Ford.

Seems like a good investment to me too. I can't see when we'll ever need a hitch again, so I don't know how he's going to feel about installing it on his shiny truck, but it certainly seems like a good idea to me.

Can anyone translate towing 101 to me, as far as connecting my lights to his and whatnot? The dolly hides somewhere under my front end, so obviously no lights showing there, with my rear tires on the ground, so what connects where?

Actually, if you're going the car dolly renting route, I believe (this is going off of memory from a few years ago) that U-Haul is obligated to make sure the lights are hooked up and the trailer is hitched properly before it leaves the lot. It's a liability issue on their part, as I recall.

As for the actual towing of a trailer, it's really quite easy...when you're driving forward. It's not such a breeze if you need to reverse, however. But if you're just going a relatively short distance, then it shouldn't be an issue.

Then again, I'm wondering why you can't just drive your car down separate from him. In theory, couldn't you just be one right after another at POE, and both go into secondary together?
