Hi folks,

My very first post is here for a little background.

My son, Aaron, and his Canadian fiance have not yet filed their I-129F. They plan to do that in a couple of months, after she arrives here in a little more than 2 weeks on a passport. She'll be staying with us until about April 16th, which is the date for her return flight to Canada. She has a letter from her employer stating that she is taking a leave of absence (can't remember exactly how we worded it) and is expected to return on April 16th. So, she'll have a roundtrip ticket, a letter from her employer, and a letter from us (Aaron's parents) if needed by the CBP.

I know I need to word our letter with care. For example, not using the words "living with us" for five-ish months. Could anyone here help me get started on a letter "To whom it may concern" that states she'll be visiting with us for an extended period? And is there anything particular I should state? I know brevity is always best, but I don't think one sentence will be enough?

Finally, should I also drop her an email (which maybe she could also use) that says something to the affect that we are looking forward to her visit?

Thanks for the help. I'll be on/off the computer for the next few hours. Busy getting house ready for her.

Its not really needed for you to write a letter for her. Its more so important that she has proof of going back to canada like the letter from her employer, rent that will be due etc.

Seeing as the I-129F hasnt been filed just yet it might not be a huge problem for her to cross, but there is still the posibility that they will question her quite a bit depending on what she tells them is the reason for her visit. She needs to be truthfull and not hide anything from CBP - they are trained to see lies.

- Idealy the proof of returning to canada is for when you have filed the I-129F and come to visit after its been filed or while you are waiting for it in its processing times.
