Hi all,

I need some advice on filling out my I-134 (we're still a long way off from that point, but it's nice get worrying out of the way early, yeah?) I currently have a full time job in which I earn enough to meet the minimum requirement for supporting my fiance and I. The thing is, my position is listed as temporary, as in, I won't necessarily be employed here long enough to support my fiance for the required five years. I don't have much savings left, as I was traveling for a year, and then unemployed for several months.

Do I risk my fiance being denied a visa if I don't have a co-sponsor? Should I seek one out now, or will I be fine applying in my current situation?

Thanks for your advice!

Very rarely if ever will an employer put in a letter that your position is permanant. Really in this day and age, no one's is. I don;t think there are many people that can GUARANTEE that they are going to have a job 5 years from now. I got a back up co-sponsor just in case. I am not sure if I am going to need them or not. If your fiance goes to the interview and the CO determines that you are not qualified but everything else is in order, they will just ask that you get a co-sponsor and approve pending the review of that information. If you are worried about it, just get one and then you won't have to.

That's a really good point! Thanks for the advice.

At the time you fill out the I-134 state your CURRENT employment and income. Attach recent check subs. Employment letters are optional. Job done.

If you are uneasy with that, get a co-sponsor
