I (petitioner) am unemployed since april 2009. My brother-in-law has filed I-864 as a joint sponsor. What if I am not able to get a job before the interview ?. Can it really impact chances of my wife getting visa ?. Also she just sent her DS 230. When approximately she can expect an interview date, if all goes fine....thanks

If your joint-sponsor has enough income then you will be OK... Be sure that you sent in enough proof of income from your joint-sponsor so they do not question it...

11-30-09: GOT GREEN CARD in mail!!!!!!

Citizenship Process;

1/11/2013: Mailed N400 to Dallas Texas

3/11/2013: interview.. Approved

4/4/2013. : Oath! Now a U.S. citizen!

Please fill in your timeline. When did you send your DS 230?

If your joint sponsor is able to show enough income, you will be fine.

03/27/2009: Engaged in Ithaca, New York.
08/17/2009: Wedding in Calcutta, India.
09/29/2009: I-130 NOA1
01/25/2010: I-130 NOA2
03/23/2010: Case completed.
05/12/2010: CR-1 interview at Mumbai, India.
05/20/2010: US Entry, Chicago.
03/01/2012: ROC NOA1.
03/26/2012: Biometrics completed.
12/07/2012: 10 year card production ordered.

09/25/2013: N-400 NOA1

10/16/2013: Biometrics completed

12/03/2013: Interview

12/20/2013: Oath ceremony

Will they need any document from joint sponsor at the time of interview ?. Has anybody been rejected visa because petitioner is unemployed, though having joint sponsor ?. Also if I stay out of country for some time before interview, can it effect chances of getting visa ?.
