I am going crazy... just yesterday Paul and I said if we get the visa in August then I will get to the USA in September and the wedding can be held on the 18th November as my cousin (who I adore) will be there for Thanksgiving... just got a call from my brother... and my nephew will only be able to leave England on December 14th... am really going nuts now... Paul does not want a December wedding... I want my brother, nephew and sis-in-law there too... what the heck am I supposed to do??? :help:

Paul and I met on the Bazaar on the 14th January (he joined my progressive rock forum that day)

July 3rd he flew to England to meet me

We fell in love while he drove all over the place coz I cannot read maps (we were supposed to go to Ingleton - but touched Darlington 4 times, Pierce Bridge 6 times, Scotch Corner twice and Bernard Castle twice and we never did make it to Ingleton)

It has been so long and so much has happened in between...

Arrived in Houston on October 29th 2006

Married 17th November 2006

Lost my father 8th January 2007 (all dates are a blur after this)

Conditional Green Card dated 24th October 2007

anita... seems like you are gonna be emailing/calling/writing your family quite often to find out their open days... with that said, that is gonna be quite the job to adjust your schedule to everyone else's...

imho.. i would set the date... and let everyone else adjust their schedule around YOU...

let me know what you decide... i am sure that there is a solution... some middle-ground that can be reached...

*hugs again*

I agree with Gupt - but what I realized with mine, and with life in general, you can't make EVERYONE happy ALL the time. yOu have to pick and choose. Just like with my wedding, some people won't be able to be there for yours...that's one of the downsides of marrying someone not from your own country - family members can't ALL be there.

So make choices...it will be lovely no matter waht.

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

Well for me my nephew is the one I adore... if anything happens to me - he inherits all I own (which is not much really)... so if I have to choose then it will have to be a date that my nephew can be there. Of course we ain't doing anything until I get the bloody visa... but if I do get it in August we need to select a date

We set a date, told everyone it was subject to change, and just plowed ahead. It is your day and as long as you, your soon to be spouse, and your witnesses are there you are good to go. Everything else is just icing on the cake! (Also...don't forget the 90 days from entering to get married. Unless you'll be coming in late September, a mid-December wedding would be hard.)

you might want to do the city hall thing as soon as you get there.. make it legal.. get on his health insurance...

you could keep it a secret from the family even it that would be better.. .then have the big wedding at a convenient time

You just cannot pick a date where *everyone* will be able to be there. You'll even have people who will tell you they'll be there and then not show up for some reason or another. It happens. There's not much you can do about it but try to pick a date where its possible for You and your spouse to be there and just see who else can make it.

There's already enough strain on you with the contraints you have with immigration, just pick a day and have fun! :)

Or elope ;)

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!
