The file is going to go from the USCIS to the NVC (National Visa Center), the time spent there varies (usually no more than a couple of weeks but it depends), they will also reassign a new case number to her. She can call the NVC to see if the file has been received and what the new case number is then the file will get sent to the Embassy. The Embassy will send you a "packet 3" which will direct you to the embassy website to download several forms, and give instructions of what is needed next. You will have to order a police certificate and get a medical exam She is going to have to gather a lot of information to send you to take to the interview as well. I-134 affidavit of support, financial docs, etc...I would advise you at this point to go the the forums section and scroll down to the regional forums and do to Austrailia's forums. Each Embassy is different so you can get a lot of information there...I could tell you what to do for the London Consulate but that wouldn't do you any good...

After receiving your case at NVC and obtaining the Case Number, tell your fiance to call NVC and give both e-mail addresses for you and for her.

Good luck!!

Thanks Giggles, I'll have to have a read.

It's difficult because I've already got a date for the move (16/2), we're doing a religious ceremony here (that won't be legally binding) on the 15/2 so time's a factor.

You're welcome! If everything goes smoothly I'm sure you will get your visa in time....unlike ours, we got NOA2 5 weeks ago and it still hasn't been sent to NVC. When did you get NOA2 and has NVC received your documents?

You can do your medical in advance so you could book the appointment (it can take weeks to get an appointment at some panel doctors). Start filling in the forms and gather all the documents and evidence you will need. NSW police checks need to be sent directly to the consulate so I'd wait until they have your paperwork before doing that. Also get your fiance to start working on the Affidavit of Support. All the info for Packet 3 can be found here on the consulates website: http://sydney.usconsulate.gov/consular/visas/iv/fiance.html

Good luck and I hope your journey goes well! :)
