We are starting to look into the K1 process, I am so glad I found Visa Journey to answer my questions, but I still have so many!

You are going to say I am jumping the guns here as we have not even applied yet, but I am seeing one black point into my history that may or may not be troublesome in the process.

I have read that you need to have all sort of immunizations done in order to apply for the visa but also for the adjustment of status. My “problem” is, my parents were against vaccines, but as they are required for schools here to, they had a doctor friend who was unprofessional enough to record that I have had those vaccines. So on paper I am good, but in reality I am not.

I could go and get all those vaccines, which I am not to inclined to do to be honest. I know one should not lie to USCIS, and I am not asking anybody here to advise me to lie or not. I am just wondering if at one point in the process aliens are subject to be tested for the vaccines they have declared they got?

Again on paper I am fine, so I am thinking I will go to the pre-interview medical and the doctor will have my record of vaccines in hand, is he going to go look further and test me to see if I really got them? Then correct me if I am wrong, at AOS time I will need to go see a civil surgeon, I will present my vaccines records, and he will file and sign a form. I would present him the vaccines record that the embassy doctor signed, his this civil surgeon going to check me medically or is he just going to take for granted that I have had the vaccines stated on my vaccines records?

In other words, if I don’t get the vaccines, can I get busted?

Thanks.

No one is going to check or test you to make sure you have had the vaccines, at least not that I've ever heard of. Whether you decide to actually get them or not is up to you and whether you're worried about catching anything. Btw, vaccinations are not required to file for K-1, but they are required at AOS. Doesn't make sense, I know, but that's our government for you.

As to the civil surgeon, as long as you have a signed vaccination record, and as long as you got your physical exam as part of the K-1 process, you don't have to visit one in person. You can simply use the civil surgeon in Texas who will sign off on the vaccinations by mail. Many of the people here have used him, and you'll find his contact info by searching the VJ forums (just search for "civil surgeon texas"). I've been told that if you visit a civil surgeon personally, some of them will try to tell you that you have to have a physical exam even though you already had one during the K-1 application process. Rather than try to argue with them, it's probably just easier to get your vaccinations signed off by mail.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Is this Texas doctor really legit? It sounds odd; I am going to read about it in the forum, thanks for the tip.

From anybody’s experience, do you have to go through more medical exams once you’ve got your GC? Like when you reapply after 2 years, or when you want to get citizenship?!

Yes, the Texas doctor is legit, and you'll find his name on the USCIS list of civil surgeons (I think his name is LE Arnold). I understand he's not the only one who will sign vaccination records by mail, so I assume it must be on the up and up. I'm not sure about your other question, someone else will probably jump in with an answer.
