There is nothing wrong with a p.o. box but why do you want to use one? It might seem a bit odd to the USCIS so, unless you have a valid reason for using one, I'd pass. If your fiance lives in a rural area or whatever maybe then. Some places like Mailboxes, Etc. have their mailboxes listed as suites or appartments, get a low number so it looks like an apartment or suite number . A suite number of 25,345 looks obvious but 410 or something does not.

He currently rents a room and the people he rents from have accidentally opened his mail on several occasions. He felt his privacy was invaded and felt safer getting a p.o. box. I definitely don't blame him for wanting to do this, and I figured that USCIS might be suspicious but maybe his reason is valid.

hm.. you could maybe attach a note to the petition stating the reason for the P.O box couldnt hurt?

I would get a p.o box in that situation as well! what the heck! accident? smacks of snoopy people to me ha.. peoples mail have their names on it!! unless his landlords really can't read.

Thanks for the tip. He and his landlord both have a credit card with the same company and thats what she opened. The first time you could say it was an accident, but after that you'd think she'd learn, but nope, happened again :bonk: so he felt it better to just open one.

Hi Joe_robin66,

I don't know about fiance/k1 visas or their application forms...(lol..I never did one of those)...

But I do know, that yes, for other immigration forms, you can provide both a "physical address" and a "mailing address".

I had to do such, as I live in a rural area, and live in one place, but have two different addresses (lol..even though it's the same location, it makes no sense...)

The USPS will not deliver to my physical address (where I actually live), so I have to use a different mailing address(where my mailbox actually is) instead...(and my mailbox is literally a mile away from my physical address....oh the trips to the mailbox!)

So on the part of the form where it says "physical address", I just put the address where my house is (as that is needed to determine where one's local USCIS office is anyways, and cannot be omitted.....)

For the "mailing address", I just put the address where my mailbox is (as that is needed in order to get my mail)

And just in case, I also attached an additional note/letter (which was also notarized), explaining the situation and the need for two different addresses....

Surprisingly, the USCIS actually sent the mail/ immgration correspondences to the right address to my mailbox...!

So yes, for you, just put the physical address as the place where your fiance lives.

And the mailing address as the po box (or wherever else you get the mail), and hope that the USCIS send the correspondence there!

And attach an additonal note explaining such if need be.

Hope this helps. Good luck with the rest of your immigration journeys too.
