Wife and I married on the 7th (!!!). Trying to figure out if we need to have her an SSN before we apply for the Green Card package (GC, AP, and EAD). I see blocks for it on the application. would it be best to get her an SSN before we send the package or could we send it with no SSN?

-side note. I'm military and she received a TIN (temporary I.D. Number) from DEERS when she was registered. could she use this as her SSN for AOS?

For the I-485 application package the SSN is not needed like TracyTN stated.

With a K1 visa your wife can get a SSN if she applies before 75 days after arriving in the US. The SSN card will have a work authorization restriction that she will need to have removed after the green card arrives. After the 75 days she must wait till either the EAD or green card arrives to get the SSN.
