Yep. They will hold it for you at security and make you come back and collect it after your interview is over. My husband had the keyless remote from our rental car and had to hand it over to the guards before going upstairs. They just give you a little tag with a number on it to identify your item when you return.

Hotel Reviews - Montreal

I was just wondering about getting from the airport to that hotel next to the consulate (La Tour Centerville)...I read somewhere about the shuttle bus going downtown MTL but then how do we get from there to the hotel? Is there another bus to hop on?

Any ideas? all suggestions appreciated...

Mikey -- I am too brain dead to pull up the map of Montreal right now but if theres a subway in the airport or near the airport (and chances are, there is or a transit bus that takes you to the main subway line), you can easily take the subway. Its really cheap and quite nice and they have automated signs that tell you the station so you dont have to panic if you cant speak French like me

I noticed two subway stops very near the consulate and La Tour Centerville.

Ok guys, help me out (if you can!): Bus or Train?

I read in earlier posts that the train is better in case of snow, but wont snow affect train tracks too?

And if Im taking train, how do I choose the "express" options? All the options Im given are at least 4.5 h...

Ive ridden Coach Canada to Montreal and I think its like 80 bucks... train will be 150 for round trip after tax.

UNLESS... I take train one way and bus the other. HMMMMMMMMM...

I suggest the train.

You get WAY more leg room and you're usually only stuck with one person beside you instead of two.

It's alot easier to walk around as well if you need to stretch your legs.

Not to mention, there's usually someone on the bus that gets stuck with sitting really close to the washroom.

But the fare difference is one more hotel room night. Hmm.... Im just worried about the person who said something about weather disturbance and snow... Coming from Toronto, its almost the same time and if I take the first train, maybe Ill be able to avoid traffic. Anyway must do a lot of pondering!

I would like to try the train though! Ive never rode it hahahahaha.

The express trains are the 5 p.m. ones - they run around 4-4.5 hours and do stop in a couple of places. I prefer the train overall... I don't do buses... but if you don't mind the bus, I would just take the bus to save money. The train is just a better experience overall, there is room to move around, food available to purchase, better restrooms etc. It's a more comfortable way to travel.

My fiance & I have decided to road trip it, and drive to Montreal(from Windsor). We'll leave real early Thursday & spend the day driving. Do the interview Friday & drive to Toronto after it. Stay at my parent's place, then head the rest of the way back Saturday or Sunday.

Gosh, I'm so excited-nervous. Do they allow barf bags in the consulate?

As long as they have a bathroom I'm good. My bowels get all wonky when I'm nervous. I won't be having breakfast before the interview, that's for sure.

Yeah, my boss gave me thursday off. But I'm not booking anything for sure until I get that letter in the mail.

The train from Windsor (or Chatham) to Toronto then Montreal was about 10hrs... The bus would be around there too.

Figured we'd hoof it and drive to Montreal first thing on Thursday.
